Geonimals - Art that helps your head space!
Art helped my headspace, can it help yours?
My name is Lorna and I am the creator of all you can see here.
I am neurodiverse! Do you know what that means? Do you know what it is like to be neurodiverse (not neurotypical)?
I have Autism and ADHD. It does not mean I am a weirdo or strange; it just means I see the world differently from neurotypical people.
Did you know that Autism is a spectrum condition? Not one person will have the same difficulties or symptoms as another, same with ADHD.
Lots of people presume I am thinking all the time; they are very wrong.
My mind is very blank, like a white canvas, as I do not think much at all. This means I say things straight as they are without any thought behind it.
This also means that I tend not to think about the future, or consequences to actions, or how much or little to say to new people, and what is or is not appropriate. I can also get hyper-focused or lose interest, as my attention is very interchangeable.

Along with being on the autistic spectrum and having ADHD, I have had many other mental health and learning difficulties. I learned a lot of therapies while I was unwell, one of the main ones being DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy), which inspired me to start drawing because it helped my headspace. Geonimals is the result of this and so is my book Compos Mentis - Of Sound Mind.

Having Aspergers means I struggle to make sense of the world, so I use straight lines and shapes to help me.
I hope my work can help your head space as much as it did mine.
Do you know anyone who may need help the way I had? Do you want to learn more?
If so, and there is anything you need in relation to my art or for more information do not hesitate to get in contact with me.
